An example of organic company growth

It was three years ago that our investors gave us a hashtag#zamia plant.

Let’s call this pre-seed funding; Then, three things can happen:

  1. The plant dies after a few months, usually because it was not treated properly. These are the >50% of companies that return less than 1x.
  2. The plant survives, but does not grow much. These are the 45% of companies that return up to 3x.
  3. The plant keeps growing and a zamia can grow very fast. These are the 5% of companies that return >3x.

Let’s see a real example of organic growth, as we have experienced it at BIOEMTECH:

  1. You cut a few green leaves.
  2. You put the leaves in water and in some weeks you can see small roots.
  3. In a few months you will see a small corm.
  4. It will take almost a year before you see the first leaves.
  5. And it will take almost 2 years before there will be a real first shoot.

What are the lessons learnt?

  1. First of all, the original zamia is still alive and growing.
  2. We have proven that we know ways to multiply zamias.
  3. Noone worries if these plans will survive in our hands; they will!
  4. Now, we can make an unlimited number of zamias.
  5. We can teach the others how they can do it as well. And at some point, all these zamias will start growing exponentially!

OK, maybe we are a bit slow in growing zamias, but we are better when it comes to our business…
